Ritz-Carlton Al Bustan Palace Muscat, Oman: Installation by Televes

6 Nov 2020

Over the course of Televes’ long history as a developer of technological solutions for telecommunications installations, it has worked on several projects in which its participation was key to addressing significant challenges in the implementation of complex networks and systems.

Airports, sports stadiums, next-generation hotels, and institutional buildings looking to adapt to the digital era are some of Televes’ emblematic facilities, where the company is proud to contribute its experience and know-how to usher in a new era of infrastructures equipped with the latest technology.

Today we’re going to take a look at one of the company’s greatest success stories from when it was charged with renovating one of the most iconic and luxurious hotels in the Middle East, owned by the renowned Ritz-Carlton chain.

Televes and its technological solutions for the hospitality industry

Technology and updating electrical and telecommunications installations have become priorities in the hospitality industry, not only as a way to adapt to the digital age, but also to new customer behaviors and needs.

As a technology expert, Televes has a business area specialized in services and installations that hotels need to distribute broadband, create interactive rooms, and improve the efficiency of hotel management.

In addition to this, personalization of content is a huge challenge that many hotels face. To address this challenge, hotels use products like Arantia TV, designed so that, from any screen in the establishment or room, guests can access content of all kinds: content from top providers, their own, and, of course, content created by the hotel itself to enrich guests’ stay and add value.

Advanced television and telecommunications systems provide the best basis for hotels to continue utilizing technology to improve users’ experiences, ranging from new check-in and check-out systems to taking advantage of IoT’s potential to automate services and control and maintain them.

Televes success stories: Ritz-Carlton Al Bustan Palace

The Ritz-Carlton Al Bustan Palace in Oman is located in a unique environment in the middle of an oasis, surrounded by mountains. While this makes it an idyllic place, it also makes it a hotel project faced with a number of significant challenges vis-à-vis the effectiveness and integration of advanced audiovisual services in line with the demanding expectations of an establishment with such luxurious characteristics.

The space was renovated due to the need to update the entire interactive TV and connectivity system that was offered in each room and across the resort. This was not only to surprise and satisfy each guest, but also to offer the best service possible as the hotel that often hosted meetings of the Gulf Cooperation council and the top events in its zone of influence.

Televes was responsible for integrating advanced interactive systems with more than 500 televisions and digital screens in rooms and common areas. These systems also include external television STBs and Chromecast, so that all users can access their own content on these screens.

The new interactive television system expanded the amount of content offered by traditional channels, OTT platforms, and products offered by the hotel chain itself. In addition to this, and to ensure customized navigability for guests and the management team, the latest encoder and IPTV systems were implemented to guarantee the security and privacy of all users.

In addition to these solutions implemented at the Al Bustan Palace hotel, having services developed by Televes such as the FTTR and MyNetWiFi system is the best way to ensure that all digital and interactive screens all over the premises work properly and make efficient use of network resources.

To do this, the interactive TV systems in rooms also work as devices to control the temperature and lighting, as well as to easily communicate with hotel staff. For hotel management, these interconnected systems facilitate hotel management and maintenance: on the one hand, because they have a comprehensive system to monitor and control hotel installations and, on the other, because they receive significant data about the guests with regard to their habits and needs over the course of their stay.

It should not be forgotten that the interactive TV system is a significant source of information for guests, a place where they can learn about everything offered by the hotel, purchase services, and see the activities available for families and children.

In addition to renovating the decor and outdoor areas, the hotel aimed to have technology play a large part in the redesign and sought to strike a balance between tradition and the cutting-edge.

As in the success stories of the Shangri-La Hotel in Doha and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, Televes is a significant facilitator of the digital transformation of hotel and tourism services, supporting the use of new installations based on the application of smart technology.
