Innovations such as those in the automation field have led to more agile and efficient processes. The year 2022 will not be an exception, and it seems that it will bring along some features that will help many companies grow even more. However, a lot of the current technologies are still likely to be improved. **Connectivity and speed are some of the greatest investments of this year** thanks to the implementation of 5G technology. High speed will bring about progress to **a more digitized and connected world** at both social and enterprise level. Apart from these cases, we can also point out the increase in the use of autonomous vehicles requiring apps and software that rely on networks with very low latency, as this would be impossible by means of traditional networks.   ## **Artificial Intelligence: investing in the future** Artificial intelligence is also one of the major challenges of the telecommunications sector. Developing **software that allows for automatic learning** can be crucial for carrying out internal processes within a company, as well as improving the user’s experience. In this sense, we would witness how many customer-support services dealing with doubts or requests turn to competent artificial intelligence. This switch would involve an increase in productivity and a competitive advance for those companies that know how to use this kind of technology and seek for its implementation. However, even if this technology might be **promising in terms of benefits and profitability**, it is worth mentioning that autonomous systems will not be fully developed in, at least, five years time. Even though it is likely that we will see some advances related to artificial intelligence this year.   ## **Automation, another key of the telecommunications sector** As for this year’s innovations in the telecommunications sector, automation deserves its very own place. First, automation allows for **a level of interconnection within a company like never before**. If this type of system has been implemented appropriately, it can assess how well a company’s  resources are being managed and how they could be better optimized. In addition, automation guarantees **more agile and tailored purchasing processes for users.** By developing this technology, both the company and the customer win. If we take a look at last year’s trend and how this new year has started, in all likelihood automation processes will be even more expanded. In fact, processes of hyperautomation are already on the table.   ## **The importance of investment for great infrastructures** As the years pass by, it has become more clear that investing in great infrastructures is absolutely essential for growth within the telecommunications sector. However, investment in infrastructures of the telecommunications sector will not remain under the sea. The purchase of telecommunication towers and the creation of big data centers is also rising. As a matter of fact, Spain is being considered the main strategical HUB in southern Europe due to the investment allocated to this area. The demand and growth of cloud services **make it a challenge to increase this type of infrastructures**.
