A clear sign of digitalization in a number of activities is the fast expansion of fiber optics, as well as the need for this type of networks to enhance connectivity and data-transmission speeds for both professional and residential environments. The rapid pace of the digital transformation has prompted the growing need for broadband services through high-capacity and low-latency networks. In order to meet those needs, telecommunication infrastructures based on optical transport networks and wavelength division technology are being developed. We can compare optical frequencies to radio frequency spectrum: in both cases, a series of bands with a specific number of frequencies to transport signals have been normalized; the only differences are the physical means and the bandwidth provided for every signal.
The technology used for this type of network is DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing). This technique allows for simultaneous transmission, without interference between networks and ensuring the maximum bandwidth and multiple wavelengths through a single fiber. DWDM channels are normalized and, depending on the separation technology between channels, a specific number of them can be transported – up to 100 multiplexed optical channels through one fiber. Each channel can now transport data rates unheard of until now – more than 400Gb/second – through the same current fiber network deployments.
Cutting-edge DWDM networks – including digital systems that compensate non-linear effects that may appear in optical systems – play a key role in the development of the greater transport networks. They meet the long-distance connectivity requirements, featuring great bandwidth and low latency in communications.
Televes grows further. This time, the company has partnered up with Padtec, a Brazilian company leader in the production of optical transport systems across Latin America. Thanks to this partnership, Televes can add DWDM solutions to its product portfolio , and has launched a new business area specialized in high-capacity and low-latency optical-transport networks.
Televes’ Optical Transport offers a wide range of network equipment based on wavelength division multiplexing technologies. Televes offers solutions for high-performance optical-transport networks allowing for the transportation of multiple signals (multi-protocol services) through a single fiber. This simplifies infrastructures and enhances their quality and reach.
Televes investment in DWDM technology is consolidated with this partnership and allows the corporation to improve its comprehensive telecommunication infrastructures service in Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA) markets. Televes aims to position the brand as leading supplier to companies, operators, institutions, public services or even Smart Cities that seek to use more sustainable telecommunication formulas and to keep moving forward in their digitalization process.
